Reporting to the President, Neil will oversee national sales direction with four Regional Sales Managers reporting to him, along with achieving sales goals through a national network of independent distributors. He couldn't be more pleased with his current position and the guidance he got from Marketing Director Carl C:"The growth opportunities far exceeded my current position. I had to overcome questions regarding my age (35) in relation to the other key executives at the company, along with the seasoned experience they possess at the regional level.
"I combatted this issue with superior competitive knowledge of the foodservice equipment industry (which gained me credibility), and by interacting effectively with the Regional Sales Manager they flew in to Chicago to meet with me (to gauge whether I would be able to work well with their mature sales team).
"I simply would not have been able to disseminate my resume and credentials to such a wide scope in such a timely fashion without the resources of Job Market Access Center.
"Additionally, I had been waiting to secure an initial interview with the new president for weeks, when it was suggested by Carl C to send a letter of congratulations on his new appointment directly to him. This tactfully by-passed the recruiter who had been languishing in the process of securing an initial interview. Carl offered some insightful tips to writing the letter, suggested to send it out through overnight mail, and recommended referencing the recruiter in the body of the note.
"Within two days of the letter being sent, I received a call from the recruiter that the president had made an inquiry into setting up a phone interview with me. The process then began shortly thereafter, culminating in an offer. Even at the conclusion of the process, I never told the recruiter I sent the letter.
